Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Meat
Department Supervisor to join our team at Whole Foods Market. As a
Meat Department Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing
the daily operations of the meat department, ensuring that all
tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.Key
Responsibilities
- Supervise and Delegate: Supervise and delegate tasks to Meat
Team Members to ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and
effectively.
- Train and Develop: Work with the Team Trainer to train and
develop Meat Team Members in a manner that builds and sustains a
high-performance team and minimizes turnover.
- Resolving Customer Issues: Resolve difficult customer
situations in a professional and courteous manner.
- Break Management: Ensure that all necessary breaks are given to
Meat Team Members.
- Log Completion: Ensure that temp, sweep, and sanitation logs
are completed.
- Retail Execution: Set and achieve the highest standards of
retail execution.
- Team Environment: Foster and encourage a positive environment
of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional
morale.
- Customer Service: Maintain awareness of customer flows and
needs and direct Meat Team Members as necessary to satisfy and
delight customers.
- Performance Evaluations: Provide timely, thorough, and
thoughtful performance evaluations.
- Communication: Consistently communicate and model WFM vision
and goals.Key Skills and Qualifications
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability
to lead and develop others.
- Meat Team Procedures: Extensive knowledge of Meat team
procedures and policies.
- Meat Products: Extensive knowledge of meat products and the
ability to communicate living conditions of animals to customers
and Meat Team Members.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal, motivational,
team building, and customer relationship skills.
- Teaching: Capable of teaching others in a positive and
constructive manner.
- Product Knowledge: Thorough product knowledge.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of regulatory and
safety policies and procedures.
- Mathematical Skills: Proficient mathematical skills for
assessing financial performance, monitoring profitability, and
managing inventory.
- Decision-Making: Demonstrated decision-making ability,
leadership skills, and the ability to prioritize and delegate.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and
operations-related applications.Experience and Education
- Retail Experience: 12+ months retail experience.Physical
Requirements and Working Conditions
- Lifting: Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Standing and Walking: In an 8-hour workday, standing and
walking for 6-8 hours.
- Hand Use: Single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and
pulling.
- Motions: Bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
- Cleaning Chemicals: Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning
chemicals.
- Temperature: Exposure to temperatures up to 90 degrees
Fahrenheit.
- Wet and Cold Environment: Ability to work in a wet and cold
environment.
- Knives and Cutting Equipment: Ability to handle knives and
other cutting equipment.
- Schedule: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including
nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Tools and Equipment: Ability to use tools and equipment,
including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy
machinery.
